My Niece & Cadillac Cares Facebook Challenge- Please Help me Pay it Forward to Heroes for Children

Posted by My Dallas Mommy on Sunday, April 17th, 2011 at 3:02 pm

This is my niece, McLain Thornquist. She’s an amazing little girl with a small frame, but a very large will to live. She has Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. My brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Cynthia have been traveling back and forth from Helena, MT to Salt Lake City with McLain, trying to beat this disease.  I am amazed and humbled by the families strength and faith, love and courage.  I feel so helpless as our loved ones battle this disease.  I am asking for you to take a few minutes to help me Pay it Forward to a wonderful organization.

I was approached by the Cadillac Cares Challenge to help raise awareness and get your votes for Heroes for Children, and I was honored. In some small way, I feel like I’m helping my family and all of the others who struggle with a child with cancer.

Here are the details:

Heroes for Children is one of four DFW chairities competing to win the $50,000 grand prize and NEEDS YOUR VOTES! ”Cadillac Cares” Challenge, which will run on Facebook from April 11 to May 9, 2011, and is sponsored by Metroplex Cadillac Dealers. Facebook voters will decide the winner. Each charity has a description and voting button on the Metroplex Cadillac Dealers Facebook page.

Here is more about the charity:

Currently, an estimated 12,400 children, ages 0-20 years, are diagnosed with a form of cancer in the United States. With diagnosis comes the challenge to provide financially for the family. In order to provide constant care for their child, parents frequently lose or quit their jobs. The money Heroes for Children donates directly to families helps relieve some of the strain and stress during this difficult time in their lives. Whether it is to pay a medical bill, buy gas for the frequent trips to the hospital, or keep a family from having their electricity turned off, Heroes for Children is committed to helping families. There is no other organization that provides such versatility when it comes to financially assisting families.

I want to thank DFW Area Cadillac Dealers for sponsoring this program and supporting this post!
