I had the opportunity to try out one of the hottest toys of the season, Xia-Xia pets (prounced Sha-Sha). I loved the idea of having pet crabs being delivered to my girls and let me tell you, they went crazy when they saw the boxes in the entryway when they came home from school!
What is a Xia-Xia? Xia-Xia are skitter-scattering crazy crabs with shells and kooky friends to collect and trade. You can collect them all and each shell contains a hidden, tiny surprise (which I find to be the cutest part of these toys)!
Xia-Xia come from the faraway land of Xia-topia, where the festival of cheer lasts all day and night! Costumed in their colorful shells, Xia-Xia skitter-scatter like they’re in a carnival parade.
My girls couldn’t get the boxes opened fast enough. As I put together the playsets, they teased our dog by turning on all four crabs and watching them scurry all over the place – I wish I had their energy (the crabs, not my kids). They walked backwards then ran forward, they bumped into each other, went the other way and then took a rest. You just flip a switch to activate, and tap a claw to make them move. They move for a few seconds and then rest unless you press and hold the claw for 1 second then it will run for more…my daughter just wanted to push them around!

Every crab needs a home, and there are three to choose from, Rio de Trio Villiage, Copacabana Play-set, and Confetti Cottage.

Xia-Xia Rio de Trio Village Playset
The kids loved trading out the shells and the little surprises inside of each shell. You can mix and match shells and stick the surprises on the front of their shell. They are adorable! (Pieces are small, so be cautious around very small children!)
