My name is Laura Thornquist and I run the MyDFWmommy.com website (as well as hold two other jobs, but THAT is another story). I have two children, 14 and 7 and I’ve been married to my husband for 20 years. I was hugely impacted by the economy in late 2008 with job losses and transfers. That’s when I discovered a new frugal way of living. After learning valuable coupon strategies I have become hooked on “frugality”! It has changed my life and I am forever grateful.

I was in the television news industry for over 20 years and decided to get out to have more normal hours and a near normal routine for my family. I’ve worked in markets as an anchor in Billings, MT, Denver, CO and Kansas City, MO.  I am a daily contributor for WFAA’s Daybreak show and  I currently do social media consulting as well as sit on several boards. I was one of the first “mommy” sites to take form and have enjoyed watching MyDFWMommy grow as well as helping people save money.  The stories you share mean the world to me so keep them coming!  It’s like “fuel” to my savings fire!!!

Hi, I’m Michelle Regal. I may be the newbie at My DFW Mommy, but couponing and saving money are nothing new to me. I am proud to say that I was couponing in the early 90’s, long before it was the “new black”. Back in those days I held two jobs (and walked to both of them uphill, barefoot in the snow) and saved every penny I could with one goal in mind: international travel, and that’s just what I did. But, I had to do it frugally…very frugally. During my travels, $1 a night hostels in India, $5 yak dinners for 4 people in Kathmandu and sharing a room with 11 others instead of a private room just to save $.50 were the norm.

Then, quite a few years later after I married my husband and had a then four-year-old daughter,
saving took on an even bigger meaning when we found out we were going to have twins. As I’m sure
any parents of multiples can attest, two, three, and even more of everything you buy adds up quickly. And just to compound my multiple purchase pain, my twins decided that they’d have their birthday on the same day as their big sister. Yes, all of my girls have the same birthday and I wish I had a dime for every person who’s asked if I planned it that way.

Anyway, after living in New York and Las Vegas with my wonderful (and amazingly supportive husband, Brian), we have settled down back where I spent my formative middle and high school years. The DFW metroplex is the most amazing place to raise a family and I feel so lucky that we’re able to give that to our girls. I also feel grateful for the opportunity to share what I know about saving while at the same time getting the word out about the hottest deals around. For those who don’t know yet, I’m addicted to and obsessed with getting a good deal. Show me a 75% off or more rack and I’m there (Christmas, birthday party stockpile, baby gifts, etc.). Feel free to drop me a line, ask questions, strike up a conversation or whatever; I’m an open book and most definitely not a shy one. Chatty Cathy is my middle name (sorry to all the Cathy’s out there ~ no offense intended!)

Hey there! My name is Heather Ryan and I’ve been helping Laura and Michelle out for awhile now with all the “behind-the-scenes” work that goes on here at My DFW Mommy.

I have 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband- I am truly blessed! Our family lost our construction business in 2008 and we have had many ups and downs being employed/unemployed ever since. I learned how to use coupons in 2009 and could not believe how much I could get for literally pennies. This knowledge helped us get through the “lean” times. Now it’s become a way of life and I’ll never pay full price again!

Our family’s journey took us to Dallas (my husband & I are both from Utah) in 2010 where I met Laura. She noticed I had an eye for deals and I offered to help her out with all the millions of deals and ideas that come through our email inboxes each day. (Well, not quite a million.) I love knowing what we do everyday helps families like ours to stretch their dollars a little bit further.

My favorite places to shop are CVS, Target & Sam Moon! I’m so glad you’re along with for the ride of saving and giving here at My DFW Mommy!
